Story 13DX/O-001
Story from 13DX/O-001 activity.PART 1 – May 20th 2011: On way to Poel island for the activation 13DX/O002 I did pass Fehmarn island. As I stopped to shop some groceries and soft drinks for the Poel-weekend, it was easy to stop in front of the Fehmarn Tourist Service for approx. half an hour of radio activity and activate O-002. The island is not very hunted since there is an 11-meter operator living on the island, but some few contacts for the most keen hunters should be possible. Time was limited as I wanted to carry on as soon as possible for Poel, so after the shopping in Burg – the major city on Fehmarn – I was radio active. Unfortunately I forgot to take some photos of the GPS, so proofs are not the best, but since I stopped in front of the Tourist Shop on the island, the pics are OK as proofs. I worked 16 stations in the time range 11:10 AM (13:10 local) to 11:56 AM (13:56 local). Unfortunately I had a crash and lost my log but this has later been solved. Thanks to all who worked me – and OFF TO POEL. PART 2 – May 22nd 2011: After a great weekend at Poel island activating as 13DX/0002 I stopped at Fehmarn island on the way back home. I planned to stay for approx. one hour, depending at propagation. Access from mainland Europe to Fehmarn island is via the bridge “Fehmarnsund Bridge”. I stopped immediately after the bridge at a bus stop on the high way. Went out of the car and took a few pics for proofs. At 18:09 GMT (20:09 local time) I began calling, but no one heard me. After 8-10 minutes of calling I went out of the car again and changed antenna to DV27L – took a few more pics – and began calling again. At 18:23 I made my first contact to 34SD127. The next five contacts were made to 5 different DXCC’s so that was perfect. It was heavily raining, and thunderstorm around me. Propagation changed all the time, unfortunately most to zero propagation!! Anyway, at 18:46 I logged 233BG001 as the 11th and final contact and I decided to leave the bus stop and heard on the next 10 km to wait for the Ferry to Denmark. 13DX/o001 was over… 73 – and see you next time. return |
