Story from 161DX/F001 activity. 161DX/F001 Sobieszewska island EU-N/V On our temporary QTH during Festiwal we chose Sobieszewo island – as 1st it is EU/N/V island and opportunity to find good location for our station. Very cheap small wooden houses ( 7 Euro/night/person ), but basic condition inside. We do not expected comfortable houses in this price, Mac and Greg in 1st house, the second one for Waldi and Slawek. As always we started preparation from the antenna system – Greg’s Skypper was ready after 15 minutes in the evening ( 20:00 GMT), all ready to take part in the Festival. After a lot of discussions re strategy, we decided to create teams for next 2 days and around 23:00 GMT time to go sleep because night was very short. It was necessary to pick Waldi up from railway station at Gdansk at 2:00 GMT – it was goal for Slawek. After Waldi’s arrival we had short discussion and then 1,5 hour second time to sleep. Festival started and Mac and Waldi stayed on Sobieszewo island where up to the evening over 140 stations was logged. It would have been possible to achieve little better result but after 2 beers our colleages did 1 hour break for the rest. Next year they should be better prepared to their target- in the same time second team still operated on Spichrzow island. After the festival had finished, on 8th of June, after finish activation on F-18 and F002 we took decision to continue activation of F001 – why not if we were located still on island. Time goes very fast and Waldi was picked up by Slawek to Gdansk where started his back trip to home – 9 hours in the train. Big success in our opinion, over 200 stations logged.
