Story 161DX/P019 - Węgorz Island - IWI

Story from 161DX/P019 activity held during August 2008.

Hello DXers

161DX/P019 Wegorz Island - 02/08/2008
Our last activation in our 161 div. IWI Summer Tour 2008.

We started at bus station waiting for our guest 161AT037 Greg, who will join with us in this event. After his arrival we started 15 kms trip to our destination, Wegorz island.
After achieving the island we immediately unpacked all equipment and started setting up the station.

First call (before 8:00GMT) was made by Greg, and first in our log was 161AT015 our very good known friend. After that with very good signal was 47DX002 Soren and 47DX101 John.
At al times we observed they sky, because previous days weather forecast showed strong rain were to be expected. 2 hours later rain started, we had to protect the Kipor Generator, and the rest of equipment using a small tent we had bought earlier this month. Adding to this, Mac's umbrella we could continue activation.

Propagation was worst in comparison to previous and to avoid next strong rain around 16:30 GMT we started de-assembling of our station and started back trip to Bydgoszcz. In Total 42 stations were logged from 10 divisions - taking into account very bad propagation, a not so bad result - we think thanks to Greg's 12 mt mast it were possible to achieve this result.

Thank you very much to all contacted with us.

Hope to hear you again from next iwi's.
