Story 26DX/N057 Story from 26DX/N057 activity. 2012 Island festival was a decision maker for me. Poor health and no energy saw me shift from my usual IOTA activation to iWi. I went down to Northamptonshire to visit my friend Steve 015, and planned to do a couple of Inland Islands . I had a chance to activate an Island one afternoon before the festival, so contacted Darran 047 for help. In minutes he got back to me with Callsign, web page and all the trimmings. When I arrived on location Denton Island, there was no access at all. Quick rethink and on to Darran again for help with alternate iWi. Thorpe Minor was the Island. I was on air within 5 minutes of arriving as 26DX/N057. Very poor conditions, but nice location. At least I got to put a new on on 11m and check equipment for the upcoming Island Festival. The weekend arrived and off I went to Barnwell Park to activate 26DX/N057. Once again, a really nice location within a country park. Antenna looked a little out of place in the car park, but hey, it’s all part of the fun. Once again the conditions were not so good, but the beautiful location made up for that. The following day I went to my second festival activation at Thorpe Waterville 26DX/N057. It was a miserable day with rain, mist, wind and very bad dx conditions. I only manages to put around 20 in the log before qrt. One to forget I think. I will return to these islands and re-activate them all when conditions are more favourable, but I was happy to put these new ones on 11m. See you next time. 73s. return
