Story 328DX/CI186 Story from 328DX/CI186 activity. Again this year I am visiting Croatia for my summer hollidays. 2 years ago I met 327KL137 Peter and his wife Lilly for coffe. Peter and Lilly has a summer house nearby - and a speed boat :-) back then we discussed to activate one or more islands in the erea - and now it was time... In preparation we discussed the propagation the latest days: In the morning strong signals from EAST, during the middle of the day signals on/off signals from Europe, and in the evening strong signals from South and Central America - and Europe. I arrived at Peters home around 6 AM (8:00 local time), and around 7 AM we packed the boat and headed out to look at the different islands. We visitied 3 islands and decided which one to visit: Levan island. A small island, around 500 meters x 200 meters, un-inhabited, no power, no fresh water. But an island only 6 km from the harbour, so easy to access. Arriving at Levan we brought the equipment to shore and began setting up the station. At around 9:00 the station was ON and the antenna was pointing EAST - Australia, Malaysia, Taiwan and other asian countries was 5/9, No Europe heard.. Proofs collected via GPS-pics, film, and general pictures. On the island there is a little primitive bar, so I took some pics from the bar as well. The first 2 stations logged was from Australia - and then propagation slowle begaan to drop. Unfortunately it dropped earlier - and faster - than the previous days, so suddenly we had no one to log. We kept calling and only worked stations on rare occassions, we also hunted other stations ourselves and worked a few stations at frequencies others than "our own". Very few Europe stations heard and worked during the following hours - and suddenly time was due to pack all gear again and leave the island. Levan island was behind us at 17:30 GMT (19:30 local time) and we were heading the harbour on mainland. During the day many locals came to the island for sunbathing and swimming. Well, we came as the first ones - and we left as the last ones. Levan island was activated - not too many stations logged, but we had a great day on Levan island.
