Story 47DX/JY002

The story of 47DX/JY002 on Barsoe Island EU-172.

Team was 47DX109 Jesper.

Saturday 4th June at. 5.00 utc I left my QTH, in order to catch the ferry at. 6.00 utc to Barsoe on Barsoelanding as ferry at Jyllands, here I asked two ladies who was also on the ferry if they would take photo’s of me in front of information boards, which they did, these were used as my first set of proofs.

I arrived at Barsø bed & breakfast at. 6.20 utc where I was made welcome by Randi, she owns the B & B with her husband Henrik, who later proved to be very nice people.

Then I was allowed to inspect the site, I find a good place for my car and bamby antenna which was quickly erected. In 40 minutes I was ready to go live and at 07.15 utc I was QRV where I within the first 5 minutes logged 47PL122 mr. Arne, 47DX054 mr. Leif and 47DX002 mr. Soren. Conditions were good than to 12.30 utc where I had 63 QSOs behind me, then I got only 2 QSOs in the log at 3.5 hours, but from 16.00 to 20.30 utc went away again, where I had 76 QSOs in the log and went QRT at. 20.50 utc.

Though out Saturdays, I was served by Randi from B & B, she actually started half an hour after I had begun to test, first she brought a large umbrella which I could use over the car, it was nice with a little shade, shortly after noon I got served egg pancake and beer at the car.

After dinner came Henrik from B & B with the webmaster of Barsø website to interview me so I could get on their website, I had no knowledge of that which was a huge surprise for me, but would obviously like the page because it was equal to further evidence for Delta-xray and the Original Island Festival.

For dinner I got a stew with red wine, also served out of the car and evening coffee and homemade pie 1.5 hours before I went QRT. Randi waited on me all the time, as the finest hotel and saved even my bed. The day was perfect and the wx also.

Sunday 5th June I got up at. 5.30 utc, had morning coffee served by Randi and was QRV approximately am. 6.20. The radio was unfortunately completely silent, I could only hear a few stations from the south slightly. After 4 hours of calls with poor conditions, a logged QSO from 163AT136 mr. Steve, I went QRT at. 10.30 utc, packed up and left the island as scheduled at. 13.15 and was at home at my QTH at. 14.30 utc.

All pictures of me has taken by Randi, both those at B & B and also those on the port. I owe her and Henrik a big thanks, for they made my first island DX test on a huge adventure, and helped me to make evidence for Delta-Xray Radio Club.
