47DX047 Mr. Leif - R.I.P.
DXRC has just lost one of our longest standing and greatest members, a true friend to all.
Leif joined the Delta-Xray Radio Club in January 2002; he was truly one of the first on 11 meter in Denmark, he started back into 1959 – so Leif was a true old-timer.
In 1974/75 he become member of the first real 11 meter DX Groups, the Earth DX Group in Brazil, his call was 47E47, some years later he also became member in Alfa Tango as 47AT047.
Leif took an active role within the club as an enthusiastic member, he was off air for some years, but he found his passion for the 11 meter again and he was a really proud member of our club.
Leif was active on several Danish IOTA activations; he was a team member of the first Danish 11 meter IOTA activation back in 1990 on EU-088 Lasoe Island.
He also did some activation for DXRC, 47DX/SJ001, 47DX/SJ017 47DX/SJ022, 47DX/SJ023, 47DX/FY015 and 47DX/NJ005.
Leif spent the most of his last years in front of the radio, he was hit by cancer some years ago. He did always help with information about propagation, supporting us with knowledge about antennas.
Leif took part in DXRC- meetings in Lelystad, Wittenberg and Poznan.
Leif was a gentleman on the air-waves with many friends from all over the world, he was a true ambassador who led by example, he was a very experienced operator who was a credit for both DXRC and the whole of the 11m community.
Leif leaves behind his beloved girlfriend Lene and her 2 children Tanya and Nicky, his ex-wife Marianne and his 3 children Debbie, Kim and Rune , and his 6 grandkids, which we send our deepest sympathy and heart felt condolences.

Leif's Funeral was on Wednesday 7 July, 10:30 at Søborg church.
Today was the day where we had to say the last goodbye to Leif 47DX047, it was a very sensitive event.
Besides all of Leif's family members they were John 47DX101, John 47DX126 and my wife and I.
After the ceremony we had a little chat with Leif's ex-wife Marianne, she told us that Leif had decided that his tomb should be very anonymous, but it was objected by his children, Leif had then asked that his first CB callsign should be on the headstone so there will be "Pluto 152" - and to tell it as it is - then it's just typical Leif :-).
Leif's family would like to say thanks for all the nice emails and ofcourse also for the nice flowers.

Leif introduced the fascinating world of DX to many Danes, and did so in a clever patient educational way.
A little true story.
Many many years ago, a very young man got a visit from a red bearded older man.
The redbearded man had brought a SSB radio and some good advice along with him.
That visit that day many many years ago, resulted into having a lifealtering effect on the young man.

I see the saddest news as i open my pc this morning. leif was always there on the air, always had a happy voice when the conditions from 47div was there and was always one of the first, if not the first voice to be heard. Many hours have spent with Leif on skype and his friendship will be hard to replace if ever possible.

met Leif at DX Ray meeting Last year in Poland and had great fun with him for 3 days.
He told me about his Illness and did knew that i whas going do died soon or lather.
Also he told me about his great passion the radio and offcourse his knowledge he was a walking manual for all kinds of radios. But its always abrupt when you read the passing of someone in this case Leif.
I think he will be mist on the airways and by all his friends arround the world specially in the DX Xray Family.
